JOHNNY

the 2 years of A levels in Dhaka , i just can't imagine without johnny. We went through a lot together. Going to Bangladesh , living there and actually working our way through the maze that was dhaka. It was a bit of an adventure at first , discovering a totally new way of life. Then after the initial excitement, we got down to the mundane business of going to tuitorial ( coaching ) classes and actually studying for the exams.

Johnny is in NSU right now. The same old dude, easily inflamed and animated.

KAIA4ever

KAIA kids in 97.

Me, abdullah, murad , naseem , osama , and shamir

Man , u guys have grown. I think Yasir was the one behind the camera so he's not in the pic. But those days were a lot of fun. Thank u guys for the KAIA experience , u guys were awesome.

I specially miss the summers in KAIA, and all those windy afternoons in the desert soccer pitch and the very chlorinated swimming pool and the basketball and those later summers when we got hooked on to tennis. Naseem and Osama were really good at swimming. they could swim like fishes and go all the way down to the very bottom of the pool. Abdullah, incredibly, was also quite an excellent swimmer. I still have no clue how he was such a fast swimmer, he wasnt fast on land. Yasir was slow on both land and water. lol. But yasir made up for it with his brains. He could talk into a corner and make you believe you were wrong. Yasir , You seriously should've studied Law.

I even miss those long walks we used to take over those sand dunes that surrounded KAIA. It was pretty stressful time for me and i guess for each one of us as we passed through O levels and then the A levels. I guess in some ways we were there for each other. I really appreciate how they all treated me after i screwed up my A levels. They still treated me with a lot of respect even though studies and doing well meant everything to them.

MONSOON MISERY

I dont like getting out of the my home, i think i stayed a whole week without walking the street outside. i am what u might call , a real recluse. I could easily have been a monk in a far away monastary and i wouldnt feel i am missing out on anything. i know some people cant do that , they would rather die , than stay confined. but i seem have this remarkable ability to stay put. I am beginning to think its kinda cool. which in itself is very scary.

I am a bit of a lazy ass. I spend a lot of time on the net..actually i spend nearly all my time on the net these days. i feel severely disconnected from the world around me.

The monsoon season is another reason i dont go out much. the weather is horrible. you never know when it will rain and since i am mostly going around on rickshaws, i get totally wet. This whole episode happened again today. didnt want to go out , but my mom who has been home all day wanted to go see some saris on Dhanmondi 7 no. road. ( ara plaza ).

So i went along, and got bored as soon as i entered those shops. I came out , and looked for a spot to have a smoke and had a cola to hide the smell. then it started raining again.

Soyuz Sovetskikh Sotsialisticheskikh Respublik

Bangladesh Cricket Team. yeah there are not the best in the world but they are my team. I just hope they do well and they are getting better. watch out for the tigers.

SUMMER OF DISCONTENT

A month left for my departure from dhaka , and still feel totally unsatisfied with the holiday so far. I can't seem to get no satisfaction. Didnt do any shopping, been wearing 2 pairs of jeans for the last whole year, and my T shirts are giving up their colour.

The weather in dhaka is killing me. my throat is still a little jammed up with tosilitus but feeling a lot better. Had a runny nose all week. Its hot , humid and sticky. Perfect weather for germs but guess what it's been raining and the puddles are perfect habitats for mosquitoes to breed. Even though, thanks for my mom's excellent sense and practices , our flat is a lot more mosquitoe free than most other homes, there's still a few mosquitoes which venture into our world. The reason i am mentioning mosquitoes of all things , is that there's been a recent outbreak of dengue fever , caused by adis mosquitoes. Got to be vigilante.

Dhaka is a beautiful city, all u need is a car to enjoy it to the fullest and unfortunately i dont have one. So i've been seeing the semi beautiful side. Jumping on to "VEBCO" buses and standing all the way, packed like standing sardines. Anyone who travels by bus in dhaka will know what i am talking about.

Bought one of my all time favourite books, "going solo" by roald dahl. I love this book, even though it's just a childrens book.

The world cup is now just 2 games away from the end. The 3rd place playoff and the final. Millions of Bangladeshi hearts were broken when Argentina were knocked out in the knockout phase. Bangladeshi football fans are not just emotional and passionate, they are also pretty stupid. Crying and commiting suicide and not eating supper , just because some south american country's football team didnt make it. If it was Bangladeshi losing , then even i'd join in the crying and not eating supper. But why in the world would i cry for Argentina.
